A View of Newcomerstown, Ohio [date unknown]
All Exist in Our Hometown
by Ellen Fruchey,
Newcomerstown High School Class of 1970
from the school's yearbook,
the Newcosean,
1970 As I stand here gazing down from these hills,
I think of the love over the valley that spills
from one heart to another,
Here, where each man is the other’s brother.
Here’s a site where hate and vengeance are no more,
But determination makes the victor’s score.
In this town no one senses tranquility and peace,
People helping one another so the strife will cease.
Sometimes the people are bound to feel low,
But it’s like the rains that come and go.
This town has but one big heart
With every citizen a working part.
Always welcome strangers to this hamlet,
Your kindness and sincerity ne’er to forget.
Never seal that giant, open heart
And remember each to do your part.
I hope you, my friends, both young and old,
Will heed these words that I have told.
So never, ever look you down
On this small village, your hometown.
And when from this town you go astray,
Utilize its kindness and sincerity each day,
And if someone should ask from where you came,
Answer proudly, “Newcomerstown - that’s its name." |
