10, 1967 - Mrs. Gene D. (Helen) Frock, 53,
Kimbolton Route 1, teacher in the
Newcomerstown,
Ohio school system for 11 years, died of injuries suffered in a one-car
accident late Friday afternoon [June 09, 1967] on Route 21 near Newcomerstown.
She was a passenger in a car driven by her husband which went out
of control and off the right side of the roadway and crashed into a bridge
abutment. The accident occurred about 4:30 p.m. Friday, 1.6 miles north of
Newcomerstown.
The Frocks were traveling toward
New Philadelphia at the time of the accident. Mr. Frock was treated for
injuries at the office of a Newcomerstown physician. The automobile, a Comet,
was badly damaged in the crash.
The New Philadelphia post of the
Ohio
Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
Helen Virtue Frock was born September 14, 1914 in
Guernsey County, a daughter of Charles and Nellie Montgomery Virtue and was
married September 14, 1949 to Gene D. Frock, who survives. She belonged to the
North Salem United Presbyterian Church.
A graduate of
Muskingum College at
New Concord,
she took graduate work at
Ohio State University. She had been teaching for 18 years, the last 11 years
at Newcomerstown. The past year she taught seventh grade English.
Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the
McCracken-Thorn Funeral Home in Cambridge with Dr. Chester Evans in charge.
Burial will be in Northwood Cemetery in
Cambridge,
Ohio.
Visiting hours at the Cambridge funeral home will be Sunday
from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Tuscarawas County recorded its 10th and 11th traffic fatalities within 5
hours yesterday.
Mrs. Helen E. Frock, 53, of RD 1,
Kimbolton,
Ohio, a
Newcomerstown High School teacher, was killed almost instantly at 4:30p.m. in a
single-car accident near Newcomerstown and John F. McConnell, 88 of RD 2,
Dover,
Ohio, died of a
crushed skull at 9:50 last night after struck by 2 autos while crossing Route 8,
about 3 miles north of Dover.
Coroner Phillip Doughten, who made the fatality rulings, said
Mrs. Frock died of a fractured skull.

Mrs.
Frock was a passenger in an auto driven by her husband, Gene D. Frock, 50.
Patrolmen said it went off Route 21, 1 mile north of Newcomerstown, Ohio, and
struck a bridge abutment. Mr. Frock suffered minor injuries and was treated by a
physician.
Mrs. Frock taught 12 years in the Newcomerstown school system.
Prior to that she taught in Cambridge schools 6 years. She instructed English
and science classes.
Born in
Guernsey
County, Mrs. Frock was a daughter of the late Charles and Nettie Montgomery
Virtue. A member of North Salem United Presbyterian Church, she was a graduate
of Muskingum College and completed graduate work at Ohio State University.
Services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. in
McCracken-Thorn Funeral Home in Cambridge, Ohio, with Dr. Chester Evans
officiating. Burial will be in Northwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the
funeral home Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
