for Newcomerstown Tourney
The Daily Reporter:

NEWCOMERSTOWN – The
Luncheonette here should have some guest customers in the
next few days.
That sponsor’s team captured the team championship here
Sunday in the annual Newcomerstown Woman’s Bowling
Association tournament at Emerald Lanes.
It was a record-breaking one, too. A 2732 gross smashed last
year’s all-time high of 2690 by Curtiss Jewelry, which
bagged 2598 in its title defense early last night.
Doris Yanai was the spearhead in the Luncheonette assault
with 516. However, she drew considerable support from
teammates Imogene Cox with 494 and Marge Myers 487.
Beverly Young of Roselawn was the segment’s top individual
scorer with 544.
Only a handful of the others managed to get beyond the 500
mark including Thelma Stocker with 509 for Touraine Club,
Doris Goettge 502 for Fairchild Insurance, Barbara Westhafer
501 for Cameo Beauty Shop, Ermaleen Sharrock 533 for Lay’s
Potato.
Roselawn stepped into the runner-up spot with 2652.
Minor events in the tournament will be held this Saturday
and Sunday.
