L. Marcella Parks
The Times Reporter, February 13, 1998

L. Marcella Parks, 83, a resident of Riverside Manor Nursing and 
Rehabilitation Center and a lifelong Newcomerstown resident, died late Wednesday night, February 11, [1998] in Coshocton County Memorial Hospital. 

Marcella was born in Newcomerstown on May 31, 1914 a daughter of the late Clement F. "Jack" Eagon, who died in 1957, and the late Nora Schide Eagon, who died in 1919.  She was a 1932 graduate of Newcomerstown High School. 

She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and its Fellowship Sunday School Class, Thomas Montgomery Post 431 of the American Legion Auxillary at Newcomerstown.  Marcella was a homemaker for all her adult life and was an avid reader and enjoyed working crossword puzzles. 

She was married June 8, 1938 to W. Robert Parks, who died January 30, 1990.  Also deceased are two brothers, Robert Eagon of El Paso, Texas, who died in 1989, and Roger C. Eagon of Hartville who died in 1992, and a stepbrother, Max Tyhurst of Newcomerstown, who died in 1978. 

Marcella is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, William E. and Leslie Parks of Oklahoma City and Dennis R. Parks of Columbus;  a granddaughter and her husband, Lisa and Scott Summers of Oklahoma City; a brother and two sister-in-law. Rodney and Bertha Eagon of Newcomerstown and Shirley Eagon of El Paso;  two brother-in-law, H. Gene and Paul Parks of 
Newcomerstown;  a sister-in-law and her husband, Annabelle and Garner Stocker of Newcomerstown; and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 14, 1998, at 11 a.m. in Ourant Funeral Home at Newcomerstown with Rev. Gary George and Glenn Brunstetter officiating.  Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery.  Friends may call in the funeral home Friday (tonight) from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday one hour before the funeral. 

The family suggests memorials to be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 648 Oak Street, Newcomerstown, OH 43832.
